                Doctrine in the New Testament

Christ was sent to the lost sheep of the House of Israel (Matt 24:15) and he offered the kingdom on earth to them. The doctrine contained in the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) is to the Nation of Israel and for the kingdom of God, if they would have accepted him as their king. The kingdom was still offered to Israel in the first seven chapters of the book of Acts but when they stoned Steven the kingdom was no longer offered.

The rest of the Book of Acts is a transition period going from the law given to the Nation of Israel and them being blinded, to grace given to Jew and Gentile alike. The apostle Paul is called in Acts Chapter 9 and he is sent to the Gentiles. He is given the mystery of the revelation kept secret since the world began (Rom 16:25-26) and he preaches the death burial and resurrection of Christ for salvation to all that would believe (I Cor 15:1-4). The Apostle Paul writes 13 books to the body of Christ and contains the doctrine for the church. He writes to seven churches and three men:

        Churches                                                    Men

  1. Romans                                           1. I and II Timothy
  2. I and II Corinthians                        2. Titus
  3. Galatians                                         3. Philemon
  4. Ephesians
  5. Philippians
  6. Colossians
  7. I and II Thessalonians

The next book after Paul’s books to the church is the book of Hebrews. This book is written to the Hebrews, when God will deal with them again, after the body of Christ is taken out at the rapture (I Thessalonians 4:13-18). The Book of Hebrews is a transition period from grace to the period of time when God will deal with the Nation of Israel again and the Law of Moses will be used again. There are seven (7) books after Hebrews that contain doctrine for the seven churches in the tribulation period.

  1. James                    1. The church at Ephesus
  2. I Peter                   2. The church at Smyrna
  3. II Peter                  3. The church at Pergamos
  4. I John                    4. The church at Thyatira
  5. II John                   5. The church at Saris
  6. III John                 6. The church at Philadelphia
  7. Jude                       7.  The church at Laodiceans

The Book of Revelation takes us through the Tribulation Period four times. It also gives four accounts of the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, as the four Gospels give four accounts of His first Coming.

  1. The first account is found in Revelation Chapter 5 and 6; the seven seals judgments. Revelation Chapter 7 is parenthetical.
  2. The second account is found in Revelation Chapter 8,9,10 and 11:15; the seven trumpets judgments.
  3. The third account is found in Revelation Chapter 12,13,14 the activities of the antichrist.
  4. The fourth account is found in Revelation Chapter 15,16,17, and 19; the seven vials judgments, the destruction of Babylon and the Second Coming of the Lord.
