Revelation 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
Revelation 12:2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
The woman represents the Nation of Israel. Mary came thru the seed line from the tribe of Judah thru David and she conceived Jesus by the Holy Ghost. Joseph had a dream about his eleven brothers and he saw them as starts.
Genesis 37:9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. Israel is called a woman.

Isaiah 54:6 For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God. The tribulation period is compared to a woman travailing in birth.

Revelation 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
The red dragon is Satan as identified in Revelation 12:9. Satan is not a fallen angel but he was the anointed cherubim that covereth. In the age of grace, he is an angel of light (II Corinthians 11:14) which is a false image of what he really looks like.
Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. A red dragon is a picture of what Satan looks like. At one time he was the most beautiful creature God had created but because of sin he now looks like a red dragon.
The seven crowned heads represented seven kings or kingdoms by which Satan controls this earth thru history:
1. Nimrod, King of Babel. 2400 BC
2. Pharaoh King of Egypt.  800 BC
3. Sennacherib King of Assyria. 606 BC
4. Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylonian. 536 BC
5. Media-Persia Kingdom 330 BC
6. Alexander the Great King of Greece 100 BC
7. Roman kingdom took over until about 346 AD.

Revelation 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
The dragon is a heavenly body. When he was cast out of heaven he drew one-third of the angels with him and they were cast to the earth. The definition of a star is an angel in Revelation 1:20.

The question is, when was Satan cast out of the third heaven? Here at the mid-point of the week Satan and all his angels are cast out on the earth and can’t get off.

Revelation 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Israel brings forth “a” man child. This means that there is only one man Child. A example of where this term is us is Revelation 13:18 when the beast is described as “a” man. The man child is the Lord Jesus Christ. He will rule the nations with a rod of iron when he returns at the second coming. The woman is Israel and she brings Him forth. Christ came from Israel and is caught up unto God in Acts 1:9.
Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

There are others that are caught up at the mid-point. The 144,000, the two witness and the ones that refuse the mark of the beast. Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

The over comers will also rule and reign on earth with a rod of iron. Revelation 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: Revelation 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Revelation 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
God has a place prepared for Israel in the wilderness and He will protect them there for the last three and one-half years of the tribulation period. He will feed them with manna just as He did when He brought them out of the land of Egypt. Hosea 2:14 Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.
Revelation 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Revelation 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Michael is the ark angel that fight for Israel when God was dealing with them on earth and now we see him fight for them against Satan in heaven. This is the war fought by the angels over the heavens.
Daniel 10:13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

Revelation 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The Lord tells His Apostles that He see Satan being cast down from heaven as lighting. Luke 10: 18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Michael and his angels cast Satan out of the heavens. Now all hell breaks out on the earth because Satan and his angels can no longer get into the heavens. This is at the three and one-half year point of the tribulation period. The Judgment Seat of Christ has been completed and the Body of Christ now can fill those position left vacant by Satan and his angels. Note, verse 8 says “their place” so Satan and his angels had a position of authority in the heavens.

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Satan is the accuser. He has been accusing the saints just as he did when he accused Job when he met with the Lord at that appointed time.
Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
These are the one that overcame and where willing to have their heads cut off for their testimony.
Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Revelation 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

After Satan and his angels get cast out of heaven there are still people that dwell in them. The Body of Christ has been judged and are filling those positions that Satan has vacated.
Satan has great wrath because he knows he has only three and one-half years left before the Lord return and put him in the bottomless pit.

Revelation 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
Revelation 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

God takes Israel into the wildness and the He feed them angels’ food for three and one half years just like He did when He took them out of the land of Egypt.

Psalms 78:25 Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.
Revelation 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
Revelation 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Satan persecuted Israel and the Lord takes the Nation of Israel into the wilderness where God protects them for the last three and half years.
Matthew 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Satan sends a flood after Israel but the earth helped Israel and it is open up and swallowed up the flood.
Jeremiah 46:7 Who is this that cometh up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers?
Job 40:23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
Satan is the god of the world and hates Israel because he know they will be given the earth. He is going to do all he can to keep this from happening but God has made a promise to Israel that they will inherit the earth.
Isaiah:1:27: Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness
