Who is Satan?
Satan has many names. He was the most beautiful of Gods creation. He fell because of pride. He was perfect in the day that he was created until iniquity was found in him. Here are just a few of his names:
1. Lucifer, which is defined as the light bearer.
Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
2. The anointed cherub (Christ).
Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Cherub are not angels and they have wings where angels do not.
Ezekiel 10:5 And the sound of the cherubims wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.
2 Samuel 22:11 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen upon the wings of he wind.
3. The name for Lucifer after he fell. Satan.
1 Chronicles 21:1 And Satan stood up against Israel and provoked David to number Israel.
Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, AND Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
Job 2:2 And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
Zechariah 3:1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
John 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
Romans 16:20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, thee was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
Revelation 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Revelation 20:2 Ane he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
4. Leviathan and the dragon. He is the king over all the children of pride.
Job 41:1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
Job 41:31 He maketh the deep toboil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
Job 41:32 He maketh a path to shine after him: one would think the deep to be hoary.
Job 41:33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
Job 41:34 He beholdeth all high things: he is king over all the children of pride.
Isaiah 27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
Ezekiel 29:3 Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.
Jude 16 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
Revelation 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which wee in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
2 Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5. The devil:
Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
6. The destroyer the death angel.
Exodus 12:23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
Job 2:6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand: but save his life.
1 Corinthians 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
1 Corinthians 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
